Is Thinking Commutative?

We do not have many symbols for thought. We know one thought follows another over time, and that's about it. A simple question is whether this process of chronological order, symbolized by +, is even commutative. In other words a person may have three thoughts over time, thought 1 + thought 2 + thought 3. Each thought could be considered as generative, thought 1 leading to thought 2 finally leading to thought 3. Then perhaps someone hits a baseball through your window and this process stops. My question is whether thought 3 + thought 2 will lead back to thought 1.

If it does not, it is possible to qualify or describe what sorts of generative thought processes are occurring. Was thought 3 a generalization of thoughts 2 and 1? Do thoughts 3 and 2 lead to a different thought than thought 1?

I do not think they do.
